XY Falcon The XY the day it arrived to the shop, the boys were in for some long hours on this one Every panel on the car was either damaged or rusted including the sill panels Door skin in preparation to be removed Outer skin removed so the rust repairs on the inner can be completed The rust was extensive as typical of most 70’s cars so 4 new door skins were required. Inner door frames back in for alignment Aligning doors in preparation for new door skins New door skins fitted but as with all replacement panels these need some work to be made to fit perfectly New door skins fitted but as with all replacement panels these need some work to be made to fit perfectly The rust was quite extensive through all 4 doors. Hand made patch panel to replicate the original piece that had completely rusted away Finished piece metal finished Rear quarter dog leg area also had extensive rust Rear quarter dog leg area and door gaps being finalised Battery box in the front guard area totally rusted through New panel made for the battery box area New panel made for the battery box area Lower front guard rusted out Lower front guard replacement panel fitted More rust issues with the lower guards Outer sill panel rusted out Outer sill panel replaced Upper Scuttle rust repaired and metal finished Due to the cost of a replacement bonnet the Inner bonnet frame had to be removed and the bonnet repaired. Inner frame removed so the repairs can be made Inner frame removed to allow the bonnet to be repaired Inner frame welded back in to the repaired bonnet Roof skin being prepared for removal. Due to the damage this had, it was decided that a replacement roof skin was required.
